Orchha possesses an imposing fort, dating from the early 17th century, which contains a number of palaces and other historic buildings. The most noteworthy of these are the Raja Rammandir, a massive square building of which the exterior is almost absolutely plain; and the Jahangirmahal, of the same form but far more ornate, a singularly beautiful specimen of Hindu domestic architecture. Numerous cenotaphs dot the vicinity of the fort and the Betwa river.

Elsewhere about the town exist fine temples and tombs, among which may be noticed the Chaturbhuj temple built on a vast platform of stone.Orchha was established by the Bundela dynasty as the capital of their Rajput kingdom that was remerging after being left defeated and weakened by the Tughlugs of Delhi. Thus, their new capital was named Orchha or the hidden place.

Raj Mahal with well-preserved murals and the Raj Praveen Mahal with gardens, Turkish baths and camel stables, and the Dinman Hardol's Palace with a place in the regions folklore are the other three palaces you can visit on your tour to Orchha.

Orchha has some marvelous temples that are still in active use by the locals. Amongst them is the Ram Raja Temple, Orchha, Central India. Other temples that you can visit on your tour of Orchha are Chaturbhuj Temple and the Lakshmi Narayan Temple.

Your tour to Orchha can last from a few hours to a whole day depending upon your enchantment with the picturesque location of the palaces.
